Our Client, a major construction firm with a history of successfully completing “mega” infrastructure projects, had recently lost opportunities to work on similar projects to certain groups of competitors, particularly from Asia. They recognised that these competitors had been able to offer lower bids because they had improved the efficiency of their construction practices through the use innovative technology.
The Client wanted to achieve the same kinds of improvements in their efficiency, but needed expert advice to identify which specific innovations were worth investing in before starting their R&D work. They asked CamIn to investigate how their competitors were developing and using innovative construction methods and technology, and to evaluate which innovations were most significant in improving their competitors’ efficiency.

CamIn quickly brought in five experts from science and industry to work with our team on the Client's challenge. We worked to identify the most important innovations used by their competitors in infrastructure services, high-performance materials, design and manufacturing processes, state-of-the-art construction machinery, and digital technology.
Once identified, our team used their expertise to critically evaluate these technologies and discover the “edge” that each technology provided to the Client’s competitors. We also investigated how their competitors were developing these innovations, studying their internal R&D practices and their partnerships with construction technology companies and research institutes.
