THE CHALLENGE

The Client, a leader in skincare and cosmetics products in the European Union, was interested in pursuing new product lines utilising the latest innovations in photoprotector compounds. They were aware that substantial progress had been made in the development of secondary photoprotector enhancers, which increase the ability of a photoprotector compound to absorb, reflect, and/or scatter light.

Given the number of new developments that had occurred in this area since they last investigated it, they recognised the need for expert assistance in evaluating the full range of new solutions.

The Client chose to work with CamIn to quickly gain a complete picture of the current technological landscape for enhancer compounds, and to take advantage of our expert advice on which types of enhancers would be best for use in their new products.

14

distinct categories investigated for

photoprotection enhancers.

95

photoprotector enhancer technologies identified.

9

weeks were spent for project delivery.

THE SOLUTION

CamIn first consulted with the Client’s R&D team to understand how new photoprotector enhancer technology would fit into their product portfolio, and to better advise them on which new technologies would best fit their needs. We then brought in four leading experts on photoprotector enhancers into our team. CamIn reviewed the recent advances on enhancers by investigating scientific publications, searching recent patent, clinical trial, and regulatory filings, and corresponding with scientists at universities and research institutes working on such compounds.

Along the way, CamIn’s team stayed in contact with the Client on their progress, providing them with opportunities to refine our team’s search towards the specific types of enhancer technologies that they were most interested in.

THE IMPACT

CamIn delivered a comprehensive technological landscape for photoprotector enhancers to the Client, and identified 14 distinct sub-categories of enhancer compounds. Our detailed report and workshop session, clearly evaluated both current enhancer compounds and those still under development, considering their strengths and weaknesses in meeting the Client’s specific needs. As a result, the Client gained a clear direction for their future work developing new products which incorporate novel and more effective types of photoprotective enhancers.
